Upper Harbour electorate

Upper Harbour covers the upper reaches of the Waitematā Harbour on both sides of the Upper Harbour Bridge, including Glenfield, Hobsonville, West Harbour and Massey. The seat is currently held by Labour's Vanushi Walters, who won comfortably with a margin of 2,392. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Upper Harbour – 48% to National's 31%. Population growth in Auckland required the Waitakere electorate to be split into Upper Harbour and Kelston ahead of the 2014 election. Upper Harbour was held by former National deputy leader Paula Bennett until it was won by Labour in 2020.

Why I'm standing

New Zealand needs a vision that will unite it. One of hope, that moves us forward. A focus that unites us, as declared by Hoani Heke, signatory to the Treaty of Waitangi: "Remain, Governor (Hobson), a father for us…sit, sit here; you with the missionaries, all as one" (W. Colenso, 1840); echoed in our national anthem: "God of nations at Thy feet, in the bonds of love we meet."

About me

I've had an expansive life experience, which enables me to communicate to a wide range of people with various backgrounds. I began working at age 15, caring for the elderly. From there, I went on to work in the building industry, hospitality, vehicle sales, worked for the Justice Department, had a 20-year career in real estate and a decade in teaching. Please, let it be less about me and more about NZ.

My priorities
  1. Re-establish one law and health system for all & a government that makes law that enhances life.
  2. Re-establish one unifying language, English, so we can communicate in every sphere of life.
  3. Re-establish one unifying NZ Flag, the Blue Ensign, that the ANZACS flew at Gallipoli, 1915.
