Whangaparāoa electorate

Whangaparāoa covers the Whangaparāoa Peninsula as well as Orewa, Red Beach and Stanmore Bay. The seat is currently held by National's Mark Mitchell, who won comfortably with a margin of 7,823. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Whangaparāoa – 40% to National's 37%. The electorate was created in the 2019/2020 electorate redistribution as population growth required the Rodney electorate – a safe National seat – to be split. The northern section of the Rodney electorate was incorporated in the Kaipara ki Mahurangi electorate, with the rest becoming Whangaparāoa.

Why I'm standing

Over the past few years I have become increasingly concerned about the overreach and overspend of government. The legislation that has been passed has clearly not been driven by the people. Something is very wrong and I feel inspired to speak out and act. The people of New Zealand need to be listened to; the cost of living is way higher than it should be and farmers and businesses need to be freed from bureaucracy.

About me

I have lived in NZ for 25 years, the last 8 years on the coast. I am a former bank manager and have had several businesses over the past 29 years. I am insightful, and can inspire people to recognize what the main issues are and then work together to address problems effectively. I listen and even more importantly I ask the right questions. Together we can take our community forward.

My priorities
  1. Organise regular meetings so that community members can have their voices heard.
  2. Liaise with the local board so that we work together to prioritize and achieve the goals of the community.
  3. Empower the local community. Help people understand their rights and inspire new vision.
