Dunedin electorate

Dunedin covers most of central Dunedin and the western and northern hill suburbs. It includes Waikouaiti in the north and Port Chalmers and the Otago Peninsula in the east. The seat is currently held by Labour's David Clark, who won safely with a margin of 15,521. Clark is not standing again in 2023. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Dunedin – 55% to Green's 18%. Labour have held the seat for all but three years since 1928.

Why I'm standing

I believe that the local voice has been lost in many electorates. I also believe that we no longer have a major left party and I am using this campaign to launch the 2033 Movement. A movement with a 10-year horizon to form a new left party and win the general election.

About me

I have lived in the Dunedin electorate first as a student and then for the last ten years after returning to NZ from the US after 25 years. I am currently a Dunedin City councillor and chair of the Infrastructure Committee. I have a strong commitment to the Dunedin community and believe I can take my local government experience to central government where I hope to be an effective voice for the people of Dunedin.

My priorities
  1. Advocate for Dunedin's position as a major regional centre.
  2. Make sure the hospital gets built to spec.
  3. Get missing government offices, eg Immigration, back to the city.
