Why I'm standing

As an immigrant, New Zealand has been amazing for our family and for my work as a lawyer. The desire to give back has been built over time. I believe that hard work brings dignity of life and the betterment of oneself and others – the seedbed of public service. I am strongly committed to make positive change in people's lives through effective policy making and genuine representation.

About me

As a lawyer of 29 years PQE, a husband and father of four grown daughters, I am well trained to listen with interest and to work towards the best outcomes. I will foster community engagement, and advocate effectively for local and national concerns. As the first Member of Parliament of Filipino descent in New Zealand as a National List MP in the 52nd Parliament, I also bring a deep connection to the Filipino migrant community.

My priorities
  1. Help in the rebuilding of the economy to reduce the cost of living in New Lynn and all New Zealand.
  2. Advocate for a stronger police presence and tougher consequences for criminals.
  3. Advocate for clarity of options, timing and buy outs in the cyclone damaged areas of New Lynn.
