Selwyn electorate

Selwyn is currently held by National's Nicola Grigg, who won comfortably with a margin of 4,968. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Selwyn – 42% to National's 34%. The seat was held by National’s first woman MP, Mary Grigg, from 1942-1943, after her husband, MP Arthur Grigg, was killed in the Second World War. The incumbent, Nicola Grigg, is the great-granddaughter of Mary and Arthur Grigg.

Why I'm standing

I'm a proud New Zealander and it upsets me to see the current division within our society. Crime and cost of living are making life difficult for law-abiding and hard-working Kiwis. I am humbled to have served 17 years as an Army officer and am motivated to serve my country and Kiwis – not politicians. ACT is a principles-aligned party, who will provide real and effective change for New Zealand and all Kiwis.

About me

As a candidate for ACT, you can best support me by providing your party vote to ACT. I am not after your electorate vote. I have served New Zealand my adult life and have spent a large proportion of this living in Selwyn. My role is to ensure central Government produces policies that benefit all New Zealanders – including the Selwyn population. This includes local defence personnel by increasing military expenditure to 2% GDP.

My priorities
  1. Celebrate the success of our agricultural sector and removing red tape to increase productivity.
  2. Increase defence expenditure to provide fair pay, conditions and infrastructure for NZDF personnel.
  3. Ensure our streets are safe by tackling crime, and putting victims rights ahead of perpetrators.
